What to expect

Pick up from Tangier hotel/Riad accommodation in the early morning, head to Rabat through the highway. Upon arrival in Rabat, you’ll meet up with your private local tour guide who was born and grew up in this authentic city, so you are assured to be accompanied by an ambassador of the city.

Meander around the white-washed intricate streets of the Oudayas Kasbah. This district boasts itself with a rich history, founded by the Almoravids in the 11th century, then completely destroyed and rebuilt by the Almohads in the 12th century. The grand Mosque with its unique minaret is eye-catching, the views from here are stunning as it’s built by the everflowing Bou Regreg River overlooking the city of Sale and the Atlantic Ocean. Visit the Andalusian Gardens that were built by the late Sultan Moulay Ismail, also make a visit to the Moulay Ismail Museum.

Stretch your legs in the vibrant and hassle-free Souks of the Medina leading you to the Mohammed V Mausoleum. This unique building represents the Moroccan Architecture with the Royal Guards with whom you can take pictures. Adjacent to the Mausoleum is the Hassan Tower, which is the landmark of Rabat and can be seen from different directions.

Drive to the Mechouar or Royal Palace because Rabat is the administrative capital of Morocco since 1912 and home of the King and the Royal Family. Have a walk by the entrance of the Palace where you can see the guards and the beautiful gardens.

You may want to include a visit to the Archaelogical Museum and the Chellah Necropolis before driving back to Tangier in the late afternoon through the highway.

As always, we’ll make sure to drop you off in your hotel if it’s in the new town; otherwise, we’ll make sure that you are escorted to your Riad within the walls of the Medina or the Kasbah.]
